Overview of the JFrog Platform

The JFrog Platform is a suite of tools that enable secure, efficient dependency management and artifact storage. The core component is Artifactory, which manages binary dependencies and artifacts. Additional modules—Xray, Distributions, and Pipelines—extend functionality to include security scanning, artifact distribution, and CI/CD automation. All services are hosted in JFrog’s tenancy on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

How JFrog interacts with Ford Development and Suppliers

JFrog’s cloud tenancy allows any authenticated and authorized user—internal or external—to access the platform. This flexibility supports integration with desktops, Tekton, Github Actions, and other CI/CD tooling. JFrog also supports direct access from GitHub Enterprise Cloud and GitHub Enterprise Managed Users (GHEC-EMU).

Storage Space

While storage is technically unlimited, usage incurs costs. To optimize costs, implement clean-up policies and leverage JFrog’s built-in de-duplication. For guidelines on artifact retention, see Retention Policies for more details on how to clean up old/unused artifacts.

Platform Support

  • Technical support for the JFrog Platform is provided by JFrog.
  • Security configuration, troubleshooting, and problem analysis are handled by Ford IT (DevTools Team).
  • For complex issues, Ford IT collaborates with JFrog Support to resolve problems efficiently.
