Requesting Access to JFrog Environments

There are two primary ways to get access to the JFrog Platform.

General JFrog Platform Access

Access Request Process Changed

Access request to Jfrog is no longer managed by all-aboard, it is now managed by Entra MyAccess- owned by Ford Global Access team.

To request access to Ford JFrog, please follow the steps below:

  1. Browse to MyAccess. If you are not already logged in, you will be prompted to login and follow the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) prompt. Ultimately you would land on the myaccess page. Click on Access Package on the left and search for "Jfrog".

  1. You will see a package named "GitHub & Jfrog-Ford" or similar. Depending on your employment type the actual name will be different but it will begin with "GitHub & JFrog".

  1. Click on Request on the right hand side of the package. You should see a popup, confirm that you chose the correct package and click on Continue.

(Please do not copy the package link and share with your teammates, the link is different for different individual.)

  1. You should see another popup asking for Business justification. Type in a note and hit Submit request.

  1. A green tip window will popup showing the progress and should disappear within a few seconds.

  1. An email will follow to your inbox confirming the access. Wait for about 45 minutes, and then login.

Wait about 45 minutes

Once the access is granted it would take about 45 minutes to propagate to Ford's JFrog. So, please be patient and don't try to login immediately.

Access for Generic (Proxy) ID

Right now, there is no way of requesting on behalf of another CDSID. To request access, the sponsor or manager of the proxy ID needs to login as the ID and follow the same steps as above. The proxy ID will be subject to MFA conditions too. This requirement is enforced by Cloud Security team, and Unfortunately the Jfrog team is unable to grant an exception.

Access for Supplier

A supplier person needs to have a Ford CDSID (preferably type S or M). The supplier then can request access following the steps above. If a supplier does not have a Ford CDSID, a Ford sponsor (generally an LL6) can use the IAM portal to create one for the supplier. Once a Ford ID has been issued, the contractor can follow the steps above to request access.

Project Specific Access

The second method is to be provided project specific access by a project admin. Project admins manage the membership of their projects primarily via Security Groups created via iam.ford.com. If you are a member of a project, make sure to check with your team and leadership to make sure you are a member of the appropriate security groups. If you require access to another teams project, you should speak with their team leadership to fully understand the requirements. They will be able to assign group or individual access as needed, or just share specific repositories with your team/project(more on this in the Project Administration section). If you need help accessing a repository, but does not know which group to request, you can ask one of the admins through Teams Help-Jfrog or Slack #help-jfrog channel.

Important Note

These methods are not exclusive. An individual can have general access, and be granted more specific access to any number of projects. If you are unsure how to start, requesting general access may be a good start, but checking with your team is always a good option as well.
